The patient is not exposed to radiation and no iodine contrast is given, which is especially dangerous in patients with renal failure or with allergies to iodine. According Wiebers et al. intracranial aneurysms are pathology middle age, which is manifested between the fourth and sixth decade of life. significantly more often are found in women in 75% of cases (4). In our series the average age of patients was 49.4 years, while 58.8% of cases are found in women.

Intravenous 3D digital subtraction angiography in the diagnosis of unruptured intracranial aneurysms.
Recent progress in digital subtraction angiography (DSA) devices makes it possible to perform rotational angiography with high resolution and high sensitivity. We tried intravenous (IV) 3D DSA in patients who had undergone MR angiography (MRA) suggestive of unruptured intracranial aneurysms. IV 3D DSA can be used as an alternative method for imaging unruptured intracranial aneurysms suggested o...
متن کاملAn overview of intracranial aneurysms
Intracranial aneurysms are relatively common, with a prevalence of approximately 4%. Unruptured aneurysms may cause symptoms mainly due to a mass effect, but the real danger is when an aneurysm ruptures, leading to a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Most aneurysms are asymptomatic and will not rupture, but they grow unpredictably and even small aneurysms carry a risk of rupture. Intracranial aneurysms ...
متن کاملLesson of the week: Playing the odds in clinical decision making: lessons from berry aneurysms undetected by magnetic resonance angiography.
The purpose of this report is twofold—to report the potential for magnetic resonance angiography to miss sizeable intracranial aneurysms and to highlight the value of simple, quantitative clinical reasoning when interpreting the results of diagnostic tests. Subarachnoid haemorrhage accounts for a quarter of all cerebrovascular deaths, and over a third of those who survive have major neurologica...
متن کاملDiagnosis of unruptured intracranial aneurysms: 3T MR angiography versus 64-channel multi-detector row CT angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE We compared 3-dimensional time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (3D TOF MRA) using a 3-tesla (T) MR unit with 64-channel multi-detector row computed tomographic angiography (64-MDCTA) for detection and characterization of angiographically proven unruptured intracranial aneurysms. METHODS Thirty-eight patients with 47 aneurysms and 8 patients without aneurysms un...
متن کاملValue of magnetic resonance angiography for the detection of intracranial aneurysms in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
The association of intracranial aneurysms with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), the 30-day mortality rate exceeding 50% for aneurysmal rupture, the effectiveness of surgical repair of unruptured aneurysms with a low surgical risk, and the development of noninvasive imaging techniques for their detection have led physicians to consider the value of screening patients with AD...
